provided immense opportunity to commercial intersperses using media
for promotion and propagation of their products interspersed with
program formats of an alien cultures of which possess a challenge to
public service broadcasters operating with specific objectives of
promotion and development of their people specially the younger
generation.
The commercial media operators have to grant extant misguided these
listeners and views of beyond of immortal personalities by project a
culture either with belongs to the west to east and beyond ethics of
perhaps the entire human race.
Therefore to minimize the impact of these commercial alien culture
on the people specially the younger group PBC, started FM service on
experimental basis back in April 1993. Therefore with tune and
experience FM-101 network cause into existence from 1st October 1998
proudly operating 22 hours a day from Islamabad, Lahore and Karachi
with network for different place in Pakistan.
FM broadcasts have been developed in the world for better and clear
audio communication and the most effective source of entertainment.
Youth all over the world are taking more interest in informal
broadcasts of FM channels.
FM transmitters of Radio Pakistan were modified to stat a new FM-101
Service to cater to the needs of young listeners and workers who
love light entertainment and modern music. The FM-101 Channels of
Islamabad, Karachi and Lahore started functioning from October 1998
putting across better and effective entertainment programmes with
new talent. Initially the duration of each FM-101 channel was 6
hours daily, which has now been extended to 22 hours w.e.f. 1st June
2000, due to its popularity and acceptance among its audiences.
Islamabad’s FM-101 International service is being relayed by Karachi
and Lahore from 12.00 midnight to 04.00 hours. FM service is also
available at the Internet.
Basically FM-101 service of PBC is entertainment and music but it
also broadcast informative items like sports, culture and
civilization, health and hygiene, quiz, kitchen, newspapers,
fashions etc. FM-101 channels also arrange direct live outside
broadcast of different shows on important days, festivals and evens.
The technical side of FM-101 channel is not inferior to that of any
Broadcasting Organization of the development countries. FM-101
Islamabad service is completely computerized connected with delay
machine and its audio facility is based on Universal Access Number,
which can be dialed from any part of the World.
Keeping in view dish and cable invasion and day-to-day changes in
the interests and life style of audience and introduction of new
technology it is imperative to improve the quality of FM programmes
to compete in the present day perspective. That is the basic idea
behind this Workshop for the Presenters of FM-101.
The website is aimed at highlighting the importance of FM service,
to help improve the accent and pronunciation, increase vocabulary of
the presenters/DJs to make them realize to abide by broadcasting
ethics, to apprise them of the techniques of panel operation and to
familiarize them with the use of computer in broadcasting. The
website will provide opportunities to the explorers to share new
ideas and expertise among themselves.
It is hoped that the website will be of immense use to the
presenters/DJs of FM-101.
